The 2009 Crown Aussie Millions Championship is in full swing with several events already having reached completion.

Event #1 was a $1,100 AU No Limit Holdem event that attracted 731 players. German Christian Heich outlasted the field to take down the championship ring and the $150,000 AU top prize.

Event #2 was the $1,100 PokerPro NL Holdem event. 83 players took part in this event that eventually saw Mitchell Carle take down the title and the $25,000 AU top prize.

Event #3 saw three well known players reach the final table of the $1,100 AU Omaha 8 or Better event. Mel Judah, Billy “The Croc” Argyros, and Michael Guzzardi all made the final 9. In the end, Mel Judah made it to heads up play with Rainer Quel. After an even chop of the prize money, the two played it out for the championship ring. In the end, Mel Judah added another title to his long and storied career. He officially received $30,600 AU for his victory.

Event #4 was the $1,100 Limit Holdem event. A modest field of 140 players turned out for the event. Billy “the Croc” Argyros made his second final table of the Aussie Millions in this event but would finish in 9th place. Grant Levy also was among those at the final, but he fell short in 5th place. In the end, Zach Gruneberg took the top prize of $35,000 AU.

Event #5 was the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E event and pro Van Marcus headed the final table as the chip leader. Michael Guzzardi made his second final table of the Aussie Millions and finished the event in 4th place. Although Marcus made a valiant run at the title, he eventually succumbed in 2nd place to David Solomon who took the $30,380 top prize.

Aussie Millions will continue through the rest of January and will conclude with the No Limit Holdem Championship on January 26th.
